BeyonwizBeyonwiz creates combinations of Personal Video Recorders (PVR) and Media Centers. These devices can be used to receive and record broadcasted SD and HD data. Also videos (DivX, Xvid, MPEG-4, ...), music (MP3, Ogg, ...) and pictures (Jpg, ...) can be played with these devices.

Allows Windows users to easily change the background image in their Beyonwiz's Menus. You only need to select the firmware and a suitable 1280x720 pixel jpg image. Then click on the Go button and 'BW Firmware Background Changer' will do the rest.

There is also an option for changing the direction that the HourGlass icon spins on the Beyonwiz. The default is anti-clockwise. You can change the option in the BC.ini file to change it to spin in a clockwise direction.

Plus there's a Backgrounds Pack containg 32 extra background images.

Warning from Dave 06-12-2007:
If your image is too large you will not be able to enter the menus (thus making uploading another firmware difficult, but not impossible).

PS. Feel free to start using this site to discuss about Beyonwiz softwares as I can not find all discussions from other forums.

I will be releasing a new version (v1.1) very soon that checks the size of the image to prevent people making mistakes. It will also support all 3 of the Australian models (by auto-detecting the firmware version).

The following version (2.0) will suite users of Finnish Beyonwiz models. It will also have muliti-language support (user editable). The Beyonwiz models will also be user editable (for advanced users). These changes will allow BW Background Changer to keep up to date with new Beyonwiz models without me having to constantly update the application.

I have tried this tool (WizFX_ver_1.0.1.4.zip) with a Beyonwiz DP-P1, firmware DPP1_Firmware_04Jun2008_ver_01.05.247.wrp with custom and provided background images.  The new firmware file is created, and larger than the original.

I am able to update the device successfully with default firmware.

Updating the device with the modified firmware succeeds the verification phase, but then immediately claims success updating firmware (no lengthy 'install' time on beyonwiz) and power off requested.  Upon restart the firmware has not been modified.

The firmware has very little spare space and for the firmware I have, an image <50kB is required.
